When you think of heaven, what do you think of? Angels, babies, animals, music? Let’s see what the Bible says about heaven.

Is heaven a real place?Bible says, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him” (1 Corinthians 2:9, NIV). We will be real people in heaven, doing real things. We may not be able to imagine all that God has planned for us in heaven, but we know it will be better anything we can experience here on earth.

What kinds of things will we do in heaven? Heaven will be filled with discovery and interesting things to see and do. We don’t know all the things we will be doing in heaven, but the Bible does give us some hints. The Bible says, “They will build houses and dwell in them; they will plant vineyards and eat their fruit. . . . My chosen ones will long enjoy the works of their hands” (Isaiah 65:21, 22, NIV). We will be able to create and build whatever we want. All the good things we enjoy here on earth, we will be able to continue and expand in heaven.

Will there be wild animals in heaven? The Bible says, “In that day the wolf and the lamb will lie down together, and the leopard and goats will be at peace. Calves and fat cattle will be safe among the lions, and a little child shall lead them all. The cows will graze among bears; cubs and calves will lie down together, and lions will eat grass like the cows” (Isaiah 11:6, 7, TLB). The animals that are wild now, will be tame in heaven. In fact, all the animals will be like pets, living peacefully together. Wouldn’t it be fun to have a lion or a bear for a pet?

Will anything hurt us in heaven? No. The Bible says, “Babies will crawl safely among poisonous snakes, and a little child who puts his hand in a nest of deadly adders will pull it out unharmed. Nothing will hurt or destroy in all my holy mountain” (Isaiah 11:8. 9, TLB). Even snakes won’t hurt people in heaven. Nothing will hurt you there!

What is the very best thing about heaven? The best news about heaven is that God Himself will be there, living right there with us. The Bible says, “Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away” (Revelation 21:3, 4, NIV). Because God Himself will be there with us, there will be no pain, hurt, tears, sickness, war, or any kind of sorrow. We will live forever with God in a perfect world where we will be happy and always doing new things and learning more about God and His love.
